Today had a gorgeous start to it. As we rode along Route 14 we were surrounded by small hills, valleys with creeks and a few small ponds where the sunlight glistened and reflected off of the water. It was divine, I found myself making up songs of gratitude and thinking of how thankful I am to see the world as we do. (My song....Thank you Lord for blessing me, with an open mind and eyes that see, the amazing view, brought to us by you, as we ride our bikes across this land - in amazement of your creations down to the smallest grain of sand.....you get it!) Ha-Ha!!

In the animal world, we saw a badger go across the road about 10 feet in front of Craig, I was too slow to get the camera out but was also pretty concerned about it turning around and giving us some attitude. We also saw a few antelope/pronghorn one set was a family - a mom, dad and a baby. We watched as the sprung away from us as they do.
The day got hot fast and had a pretty stiff headwind and cross wind. If you aren't sure what that is, imagine yourself riding into a wind tunnel, with it trying to blow you backward this is a headwind, if you imagine yourself riding with the wind coming at you from the side almost knocking you over this is a crosswind. It isn't fun, especially when there is only two of us to try to block it. The temperature registered at 90, but when you are riding in the direct sun, it certainly felt a lot hotter!!
We rode through towns that had populations of 25, 2 and in Gillette approx. 32k. It is so interesting to see the different sizes of these towns!!
This was a bison statue as we left Sheridan.
What a perfect way to spend a Friday!
The cutting of alfalfa, it smelled so good. I wound up telling Craig stories of when they would cut the fields near where I grew up and we would go play on the big round hay bales.
The many grain silos on Route 14 - we saw three concrete ones spaced across approx. 20 miles
Ride profile for today. I keep forgetting to take these pics to post.
An ooopsie photo, but still pretty cool of one of the stops to fill up our water and grab a snack of many kinds! We had kiwi and oranges too here!
Today became the "Long and Winding Road" as we rode in the headwinds we would gaze out and see the road stretch and curve upwards at least ten times, if you zoom in you can see the road steadily headed up.
A few of the antelope we saw today
Spotted Horse - population 2 - this was the eclectic party store and where the lunch stop was
Ice cream social!!
Laundry day on PAC - the bed was filled with clothes that needed folding and the drying rack was full after being outside drying clothes as well. The lap of luxury folks! This is LIVIN'!!
So, what makes for a happy butt with all this riding?! These lovely products! Alcohol wipes too, which ensure a clean surface to prevent any infections. Some have asked and here it is. A blend of chamois butter and A&D to start the day and then the ointment before bed if you are starting to get a saddle sore. They hurt like hell and are no fun!
